Hybrid Robots is a new way of approaching the design and build of robotics and automation systems.  Currently, robotics and automation fall into two areas:  specialized design and COTS (commercial off the shelf).   Hybrid Robot design is a mixture of those two and adds one more additional element - we use components that were designed for other purposes and adapt them for use in robotics and automation systems.  This Hybrid approach allows the creation of more powerful robotics and automation systems while also realizing significant cost savings.

 It is the philosophy of HDS that the current state of robotics and automation is one that is poised to create dramatic changes in our daily lives, much like the Internet did in the 1990's.   Unfortunately, today's robotic and automation systems range from incapable toys to expensive industrial systems.  What is needed in the market place is a Hybrid Design that can bring functional, cost effective robotics and automation to the everyday consumer.  The goal of Hybrid Design Systems is to make this vision of tomorrow a reality today!
